Teeth

I've had problems with my teeth for years now.  Having weak teeth seems to be a problem that runs in my family.  When I was little, I hated brushing my teeth.  I don't know why, but I hated it and for a long time I flat out refused to do it.  Being that I didn't have awesome teeth to begin with, and then refusing as a child to take care of them, I am now paying for it.  It more ways than one.  No matter how well I take care of my teeth now, I still have to do what needs to be done to repair the damage that is already done.

Last Wednesday, I randomly got the opportunity to get the cavities in my front two top teeth finally taken care of.  I'm no stranger to root canals (I've had three previous), but I was a bit nervous anyway.  I've never gotten more than one done at a time.  I always expect the worst, which is stupid.  My brain grabs onto something negative and runs away with it.  I do have to admit that this time was worse than any of the other three times, but I just chalk that up to having two done at the same time.

The most horrible part, for me, is the numbing process.  I don't mind needles usually.  However, when they are being shoved into my gums, and almost as far up as my sinuses, I take offense.  UGH.  It was worse this time because it was the very front.  I just... ugh.  Never again.

After my mouth was good and numb, everything was fine.  Boring.  But fine.  I felt like I was laying there forever, but it's done now and thank goodness for that.  I'm SO not happy with the temporary they put in, though.  Instead of two separate temporary crowns, they just put one that fit over both teeth.  Biting down is weird, and of course I look like a dork.  *sigh*  I'll live with it for now.  I go back on the 7th so they can put the permanent crowns on.  I hope these next two weeks go quickly.  I can't wait to be done with it.

A's oral health is definitely a top priority for us.  I don't want her to have to go through what I do.  Luckily, she loves brushing her teeth and, though she'll need help for a long time still, she's learning how to do it herself.

Yesterday we went to the story group at the library and A loved it just as much as she did last week.  She's very social and loved being in the middle of everything.  The theme of the week was 'Teeth', which is a good fit, considering.  :P  A good friend of mine, Tori, brought her two boys along as well.  It was good to see her again and to meet her boys.  (Check out her blog here: Mommy's Musings)

All in all, it's been a good week.  Oh!  I forgot!  I got a Nook Tablet as a gift this week.  I'll do a review on it sometime soon.  I had a Nook Simple Touch, so that one was passed down to Fiance.  We're a happy, Nook loving family.  :)
